A complete range
Outstanding uptime and reliability
Keeping your promises and your schedule is an absolute must in the transport industry. With the reliability and speed of a Scania V8, your business is bound to benefit.
The Scania V8 truck range makes a bold and confident statement on the road. This top-of-the-range Scania cab can be equipped to the highest standards for operators who demand the most practical and prestigious vehicle.
At the forefront of technology
The Scania 16-litre V8 is tailored for your specific needs and built to improve your total operating economy: making it the perfect investment to drive your business further.
V8 powertrain
The new V8 can deliver fuel savings of up to 6 percent when coupled with the new G33CM Opticruise gearbox and a rear axle gear optimised for cruising in direct drive (gear 12).
As an example, a 590 hp truck in long haulage operations in a hilly topography can achieve savings in this range, whereby the engine will account for two percent, the gearbox for three percent and the rear axle for one percent*.
The wide gear ratio spread makes it possible to optimise the rear axle gear for low engine rpm in cruising speed, without compromising startability. This gives a high performing powertrain for a profitable and more sustainable business.
For example, a 590hp truck used in long haul operations along hilly topography, can expect to achieve fuel savings in this range: the engine accounting for two percent, the gearbox for three percent, and the rear axle for one percent*.

The Scania opticruise gearbox
Scania’s new Opticruise G38CM and G38CH gearboxes, available for the highest output V8 770 hp engine, feature improved and speedy gearshifting in combination with lower fuel consumption and excellent comfort.
After six years of development and testing, we are introducing a gearbox with plenty of new technologies, such as variable oil volume, improved gear lubrication by oil spray function and a wider gear spread.
Thanks to significantly reduced internal losses, and thereby improved energy efficiency, the gearbox itself offers fuel savings of one percent. The weight has been reduced by 60 kg to be used for increased payload. Additionally, it provides higher uptime with an oil change interval of up to one million km. All this to ensure that your total operating economy is optimised.
Driveability
Better driveability is achieved with a wider gear ratio spread, which includes super crawler and overdrive, that match Scania’s low rev engine philosophy.
Reversing
Instead of a reversing gear, a planetary gear is used for reversing. This solution offers eight reverse gears, and a maximum reverse speed of 30 km/h (particularly useful when a tipper truck is required to reverse over a long distance).
Retarder
A new retarder with maximum brake torque of 4,700 Nm is exclusively available with the G33CM gearbox. The R4700D is fully disengaged from the propeller shaft when not in use in order to reduce drag losses.
PTO
The new G33CM Opticruise gearbox offers nine different PTO specs, spread over three configurations, and with six different interface options. As the new PTOs are pressure lubricated by gearbox oil, they can benefit from the use of a gearbox oil cooler - affording the possibility of up to 160 kW of output power, and continuous operation (previously, some applications were limited to 15 min running intervals).
The Scania Opticruise gearboxes G33CM, G33CH, G38CM and G38CH are available for V8 engines up to 770 hp as well as the high-output 13-litre between 500 and 560 hp engines.
Rear axle gears
Scania’s rear axle range offers a robust and weight optimised design with a wide variety of gears and ratios, so you can find the optimal solution for your operation. All gears are offered with differential locks.
Single driven single reduction
Our gears for single reduction have low complexity and high efficiency and can master gross vehicle and train weights up to 78 tonnes with a wide range of gear ratios from 2.35 up to 5.57.
Single driven hub reduction
The single driven hub reduction axles are offered for the operations where startability, ground clearance and high gross train weights are favourable. They manage gross vehicle and train weights up to 80 tonnes with gear ratios from 3.80 up to 7.18.
Tandem driven single reduction
Tandem driven single reduction is offered for operations where you require traction together with optimal fuel efficiency. The RB662 + R660 tandem gear masters gross vehicle and train weights up to 80 tonnes with gear ratios from 2.92 up to 4.88 or the RB885 with train weights up to 120 tonnes and gear ratio 3,08 or 3,42.
Tandem driven hub reduction
Our broad tandem driven hub reduction axles are robust and durable and offers great startability and ground clearance. It masters extremely high gross vehicles and train weights to up to 210 tonnes with gear ratios from 3.52 up to 7.63.
Axle configurations
Front, rear, fixed and steered tag axles – Scania can match the requirements of any application. The V8 can be teamed with a wide range of chassis configurations with different heights.
